Texans vs. Ravens Spread Pick
Houston is the upstart, with the rookie head coach and the rookie quarterback coming off a trouncing of the Cleveland Browns. The Ravens feature the veteran coach and possible MVP Lamar Jackson. It looks like an easy one on paper, but C.J. Stroud and the Texans have been disrupting predictions all season.
In the first of our experts’ four NFL picks against the spread, we like the Texans +9.5 (-110 at Caesars). The Ravens are notorious for winning playoff games as the underdog but struggling as the favorite. We expect them to win, but for Houston to make it closer than people expected.
Packers vs. 49ers Spread Pick
Green Bay is the only road team to win during the Wild Card round in a 48-32 trouncing of the Dallas Cowboys that wasn’t even that close. Now, Jordan Love and company travel to California to face the top-seeded 49ers. As well as they played last week, our experts expect San Francisco to be ready to play, unlike Dallas. For the second of our experts’ NFL ATS picks, we like the 49ers -10 (-110 at Caesars).
Buccaneers vs. Lions Spread Pick
Two feel-good stories coming out of the NFL this week are the Lions, who hadn’t won a playoff game in 32 years, holding off the Los Angeles Rams, 24-23, and Tampa Bay, left for dead after Tom Brady retired last offseason, squashing the Philadelphia Eagles at home on Monday, 32-9. The two lock horns in Detroit this weekend and we are expecting this to be the closest game of the four. Baker Mayfield was lights out against Philadelphia, throwing for 337 yards and three touchdowns.
But the Buccaneers are going from facing a team with no momentum at all to a team with all the momentum in the world. The Lions don’t necessarily feel like a team of destiny, but they do feel like a team that can hold serve at home for at least one more weekend. Our experts like the Lions to advance, but they like the Buccaneers, getting six points, to cover the spread. For our experts’ third of four NFL picks against the spread, they are taking Tampa Bay +6 (-110 at Caesars).
Chiefs vs. Bills Spread Pick
Of four intriguing matchups this weekend, the game that closes out the Divisional Round may be the best. The Chiefs and Bills have faced off twice in the playoffs in recent seasons, with Kansas City getting the better of Buffalo both times. But those games were in Kansas City. Buffalo has been in playoff mode for more than a month now, winning their final five regular season games to win the AFC East and make the playoffs.
Josh Allen continued his recent stretch of strong play, throwing for 203 yards and three touchdowns and adding 74 yards and a touchdown on the ground as the Bills defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers, 31-17. Patrick Mahomes threw for 262 yards and a touchdown to rookie receiver Rashee Rice, who had eight catches for 130 yards and the score in the Chiefs’ 26-7 victory over the disappointing Miami Dolphins.
Buffalo bested Kansas City at home in December, 20-17, and our experts are expecting a similar result in Buffalo this go around as well. For the final of our four NFL ATS picks, our experts are taking the Bills -2.5 (-125 at Caesars), to cover the spread.
