Texas Tech Lineman Hosts Thanksgiving Turkey Drive

Tony Bradford Jr. uses NIL funds to support local families in need

As Texas Tech prepares to visit No. 7 Texas on Friday, Red Raiders' star defensive lineman Tony Bradford Jr. used what little free time he had this week to give back to the Lubbock community in a big way.

The super senior from Houston hosted "Tony’s Turkey Giveaway” where he used his own NIL money to purchase and give away 100 turkeys to local families in need. United Supermarkets provided another 100 turkeys to the 100 Black Men of West Texas, who partnered with the Red Raider on the event.

Bradford gave thanks to the Texas Tech collective for the support.

“I just never had the finances but thanks to the Matador Club and me being responsible for my NIL money I finally saved up enough money,” Bradford shared with NBC Lubbock.

Bradford, who is known locally as “the mayor” for his impactful community service throughout his Texas Tech career, continued his support this holiday season.

“This community has supported me throughout my entire years here at Tech and I just want them to understand we as Red Raider athletes we love them, we understand that they support us and we just want to do our part and show them that we love and support them,” Bradford added.

“I am thankful for life, I am thankful for my family, I am thankful for my friends, I am thankful for Lubbock, I am thankful for everyone who helped put this thing together. Without the help of so many generous people and organizations, I would not be here right now. I am just so glad to be able to do this,” Bradford said.

The 6-5 Red Raiders finish their regular season Friday in Austin against Texas on ABC at 7:30PM ET on ABC.
