Andrew Lindsey, Hot Bats Propel Tennessee Into Winners' Bracket

The Tennessee Volunteers will face Clemson to go the regional championship.

After a lackluster performance in the SEC Tournament opener, Tennessee found its groove again to open the regionals. The Vols beat Charlotte by a score of 8-1 after a barrage of offense in the early innings. With the win, the Vols season can not end on Saturday as they head into the winners' bracket to square off against the regional hosts in Clemson.

Andrew Lindsey got the start for Tennessee, which was great. The right-hander gave the Vols 7 innings and ten strikeouts while only giving up one run. Most importantly, the bullpen didn't have to get used much to start the regional. Chase Dollander will now get the start on Saturday to try to get the Vols into the regional final.

While the Vols bats were great yesterday, Tennessee got all of their production from the top and middle of the order. The top 5 hitters in the order got all 11 hits for the Vols in the win, including three-hit days from Griffin Merritt and Jared Dickey. Merritt and Christian Moore both went yard in the win. The first pitch for Clemson and Tennessee is scheduled for Saturday at 6 P.M. Eastern as the Vols will try to get to yet another regional championship.
