Sunderland duo nominated for EFL accolades

Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray has been nominated for the EFL Manager of the Month award for September, and Jack Clarke for Player of the Month.
After the opening 11 games of the season, Sunderland sit in 4th place of the Championship table.
It's been another strong start for the Black Cats who won four out of five Championship games in September, with their only loss coming at home to Cardiff City.
Sunderland beat Southampton 5-0, and then QPR, Blackburn Rovers, and Sheffield Wednesday away from home, scoring three goals in each of those away games.
So it's no surprise to see Mowbray nominated for Manager of the Month, and it's no surprise either to see Clarke nominated for Player of the Month.
The 22-year-old has now scored seven in 11 Championship outings this season, scoring six in five in September with goals in every game bar the defeat vs Cardiff.
Sunderland looking good...
Many expected Sunderland to be in the top six race again this season. But they're perhaps exceeding expectations right now.
The Black Cats are blowing teams away and bar the odd defeat here and there, they're consistent in doing so as well.
Mowbray is a tried and tested manager who continues to perform at Championship level, whilst Clarke goes from strength to strength with the Black Cats.
He's the joint-highest scorer in the league and could well be a Golden Boot contender, with Premier League interest in his services already cropping up ahead of January.
Sunderland return to action vs Stoke City later in the month.
