Houston will open their season against the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL’s season opener. In addition to the Texans' opponents in the AFC South, Houston will also play against teams from the AFC North and NFC North.

After winning their fourth AFC South title in the last five years, the Texans made some roster changes in the 2020 offseason, including trading away superstar DeAndre Hopkins in exchange for David Johnson and acquiring wide receiver Brandin Cooks in a separate trade.

Fun Facts from 2019:

  • The Texans ranked 29th in the NFL in completions (55) to the running back position, which led to only 11 percent of the team’s receiving yards.
  • Houston’s TE lacked impact names, but they still scored the fourth-most TDs (9) in the league.
  • Over the past three seasons, DeAndre Hopkins caught 315 passes for 4,115 yards and 31 TDs, which is 49.1 percent of the WR catches (641), 49.6 percent of the WR receiving yards (8,299), and 54.4 percent of the WR TDs (57) over this span. Needless to say, he will be missed.
  • The Texans’ defense allowed 105 catches (31st) 920 yards (31st), and eight TDs (32nd) to the running back position.
  • DeShaun Watson finished in a tied with Lamar Jackson for rushing TDs (7 – second-most in the league by a QB).
