Stroud's Pair of Touchdowns Gives Texans 14-6 Halftime Lead vs. Colts
The Houston Texans lead the Indianapolis Colts 14-6 at halftime of a win-and-in game at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday night, spurred by one score apiece in the first two quarters of play from quarterback C.J. Stroud.
Houston fell behind 3-0 early after an 11-play, 56-yard drive from Indianapolis stalled out in plus territory, and when the Texans had their first possession of the night, it lasted exactly nine seconds as Stroud connected with wideout Nico Collins for a 75-yard score on the first play.
After both teams accounted for points on their opening drive, the game saw seven-straight punts before the Texans were able to find the end zone after the two-minute warning in the second quarter, this time on a one-yard pass from Stroud to fullback Andrew Beck.
At the intermission, Stroud is 10-of-13 through the air for 151 yards and two scores, meaning that nearly half of his passing yards came on his first play from scrimmage on the touchdown connection with Collins. Unsurprisingly, Nico is Houston's leading receiver with 129 yards on five receptions. He is also the only Texan to have more than one catch in the first half.
The Colts were able to put together a promising drive at the end of the half as well, resulting in a successful 52-yard field goal from Matt Gay that cut the deficit to 14-6.
Indianapolis received the football to start the game, so the Texans will start on offense to begin the third quarter. You can follow along here for live updates from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
