'Pleaseeee!': Marlon Humphrey Calls For Ravens Throwback Look

Marlon Humphrey asked his Baltimore Ravens to go back in time in an expected manner.

That's gold, Marlon! Gold! With the future embracing the past on the NFL fashion scene, as several teams have introduced authentic throwback uniforms as alternate attire, All-Pro defender Marlon Humphrey is hoping to see his Baltimore Ravens join in on the trend.

When a fan on X, formerly known as Twitter, suggested that the teams bring back its brief "mustard" pants phase, Humphrey himself was fully on board.

"PLEASEEEEE," Humphrey, one of the NFL's newly-minted top 100 players, declared in a quoted post.

The Ravens experimented with gold several times throughout the prior decade via alternate uniforms: since 2016, their traditional home purple uniforms have occasionally featured gold numerals, a leftover from the infamous "Color Rush" promotion. For one game in 2015, that look extended to full-on golden pants, worn during a December showdown at home against Kansas City.

Retaining that relative golden glow is perhaps the closest way the Ravens can get in on the throwback craze. The Ravens' previous primary emblem was a shield brandishing the letter "B," which also had a pair of wings protruding out of it.

A lawsuit from a Maryland resident, having sent a version of the logo to the ownership group before the team's identity was announced, has more or less removed that logo from circulation entirely. Its departure gave rise to the current raven head profile, which has been the primary identifier of Baltimore football since 1999.

Baltimore, presumably clad in its iconic purple threads, will begin the preseason on Saturday night at home against the Philadelphia Eagles (7 p.m. ET, WBAL/NFL Network).
