Look: Lions Begin Offseason Workouts

The Lions have started working out in Allen Park in preparation for 2024 season.

The Detroit Lions have officially started working out at their Allen Park practice facility in preparation for the 2024 season.

Specifically, individuals from the Lions’ roster reported to the facility Monday for the beginning of the team's offseason program. While no on-field work is permitted, players can openly take part in meetings, plus strength and conditioning and physical rehabilitation.

After two weeks have passed, Detroit can then move into Phase 2 of the offseason program. That is when members of the Lions’ roster can begin to participate in on-field work with each other and coaches.

With that said, the organization's offensive and defensive units, however, are not allowed to square off with one another until Organized Team Activities begin May 21. OTAs are set to run from May 21-23, May 29-31 and June 10-12.

The Lions will also host their mandatory minicamp from June 4-6.

Detroit, which will enter a season as reigning division champions for the first time in three decades, will undoubtedly have heightened expectations in 2024.

The once dormant Lions are no longer the hunters; they are now the hunted. And with that comes increased pressure for the organization to perform at a high level.

In order for Dan Campbell's squad to meet its lofty, Super Bowl-or-bust expectations in 2024, it will need a few things to happen.

Not only will it need its core players to replicate their production from a season ago (i.e. Jared Goff, Aidan Hutchinson, Penei Sewell and Amon-Ra St. Brown).

Instead, it will also need its offseason acquisitions to perform up to par (e.g. Carlton Davis, D.J. Reader and Kevin Zeitler). Plus, it will have to have its young players, such as Jahmyr Gibbs, Sam LaPorta, Brian Branch and Jameson Williams, take another step forward.

It's a lot to ask of Campbell and his team. However, after the franchise's run to the NFC Championship Game last season, the intensified expectations come as no surprise.

Detroit is equipped with a solid enough roster to be one of the NFL's very best teams. Now, it just has to prove it all over again this upcoming season.
