NFL Most Improved Offenses: Falcons Top 5?
The Atlanta Falcons made a huge splash when they took Texas running back Bijan Robinson with the eighth pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
That move, along with other additions led to Bleacher Report ranking Atlanta as the fifth most-improved offense in the NFL.
"The headliner is obviously Bijan Robinson," Bleacher Report writes. "Teams don't take a running back with the eighth pick overall unless they plan on making them a centerpiece of the offense. He is the most hyped running back prospect since Saquon Barkley."
Barkley shattered New York Giants rookie records and totaled over 2,000 yards from scrimmage in 2018, which made him the third rookie in NFL history to accomplish that feat.
Robinson was one of the best running backs in college for two straight years. In 2021, he ran for 1,127 yards plus 11 touchdowns, then ran for 1,580 yards and reached the end zone 18 times on the ground in 2022 plus 314 receiving yards.
Robinson joins second-year running back Tyler Allgeier in the Falcons' backfield. Allgeier is coming off of a strong rookie campaign of his own, as he ran for 1,035 yards and three touchdowns in 16 games.
Atlanta also added to its offensive line through the draft by taking Syracuse offensive lineman Matthew Bergeron in the second round. Bergeron started 39 games at offensive tackle in his career for the Orange and was a two-time all-ACC selection.
The Falcons also traded for tight end Jonnu Smith along with signing wide receivers Mack Hollins and Scott Miller.
"The Falcons have a clear identity and plan," Bleacher Report writes. "That's going to go a long way in protecting Desmond Ridder and giving him a chance to succeed in his second season."
With Atlanta's additions on offense and a year under Ridder's belt, there's no reason why they shouldn't be much improved from 2022.
