Eagles Thursday Night Game Earns 'A' Grade From Al Michaels

The Philadelphia Eagles' home opener will be a quick turnaround, as the Eagles host the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2 on Thursday night. Expect Lincoln Financial Field to be buzzing, as it's a showdown of NFC Division champions.

Philadelphia's game against the Vikings will be on Prime Video's Thursday Night Football. TNF will feature matchups between all 14 playoff teams from last season. This comes after a lackluster 2022 season slate of rough matchups.

The 2023 Amazon Prime matchups look much better. Sports Illustrated's Jimmy Traina reached out to TNF's lead voice, Al Michaels, for his take on the schedule, who gives the Eagles-Vikings game an exceptional grade.

“Love the way we come out of the gate," Michaels said. "Three ‘A’ grade games. Two Aaron Rodgers games. Baltimore-Cincinnati, another good one. League did us a solid. I was raring to go the minute I saw the whole slate. Already thinking of story lines for each game, of which there is no shortage.”

On one of the biggest shopping days of the year, Prime Video will make history with the presentation of the very first NFL Black Friday game on November 24, as the New York Jets host the Miami Dolphins.

“Great idea," Michaels said. "Tens of millions recovering from the prior day’s tryptophan hangover will love it. Rodgers-Tua, a marquee matchup on any day.”

Wins football fans and for Prime Video. For the Eagles, who have the best odds to win the NFC Conference, hopefully a Thursday night win as well. Philadelphia's schedule is tough, with 11 games against teams that made the playoffs in 2022, including the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs. Philadelphia has five prime time games on the schedule, including three Monday night games.
