Dallas Cowboys' Offseason Program Announced: The 3 Phases at The Star

As the NFL offseason continues to progress, the Dallas Cowboys released off-season workout dates Friday morning. "First Day" is Apr. 15, 12 days before the 2024 NFL Draft. "Organized Team Activities (OTAs)" initially range from May 21-23, then pick back up May 29-31. Lastly, the "Mandatory Minicamp" is June 4-6.

The ongoing offseason is paramount for a franchise looking to get over the hump. Though Dallas has consistently fielded one of the better teams in the league, playoff woes have been a consistent plague. Upon the arrival of workouts, all eyes will follow franchise quarterback Dak Prescott, who had a monstrous campaign last season, logging 4,516 yards, 36 touchdowns and just nine interceptions.

Thus far, Dallas has added linebacker Eric Kendricks to the mix via free agency while retaining cornerback Jourdan Lewis, running back Rico Dowdle, long snapper Trent Sieg and cornerback C.J. Goodwin.

Last year, the NFL provided a breakdown of the three phases of offseason workouts. Per the league ...

  • Phase One consists of the first two weeks of the program with activities limited to meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation only.
  • Phase Two consists of the next three weeks of the program. On-field workouts may include individual or group instruction and drills, as well as “perfect play drills,” and drills and plays with offensive players lining up across from offensive players and defensive players lining up across from defensive players, conducted at a walk-through pace. No live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted.
  • Phase Three consists of the next four weeks of the program. Teams may conduct a total of 10 days of organized team practice activity, or “OTAs”. No live contact is permitted, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are permitted.
