Chargers Plan Jersey Retirement for Two Bolts Legends During Season Opener
The Los Angeles Chargers are a little over two weeks away from their season opener against the Miami Dolphins, and fans are on pins and needles.
Much excitement surrounds the game, and the Chargers gave us another reason to be excited.
LA announced they will retire the numbers of two Hall of Famers during their home opener, No. 18 Charlie Joiner and No. 80 Kellen Winslow.
Joiner played for the Charges for 11 seasons from 1976-1986, and when he retired, he left the game as the NFL's all-time leader in reception and receiving yards.
Winslow spent his entire career with the Chargers, racking up 6741 yards, 541 receptions, and 45 touchdowns in nine seasons. On top of that, he was a five-time Pro Bowler, three-time All-Pro, and a member of the All-1980s Team.
The Charger announced a couple of months ago that legendary Charger Antonio Gates will enter the team's Hall of Fame later in the season.
It will be a season special for your Bolts in many ways, and hopefully, it all ends in the specialist of ways when all is said and done.
Congratulations to both Charlie and Kellen on this fantastic accomplishment. Well deserved!
