Chargers News: Viral LA Fan's Allegiance Questioned After Old Pictures Surface
Sofi Stadium has become notorious for opposing fans overtaking Charger home games but one viral Bolts fan made headlines for her reactions on Monday night.
Dallas took LA's heart in primetime but the close back-and-forth contest prompted some animated displays from Merrianne Do throughout the night.
Do addressed some concerns that she was a paid actor by eagerly expressing her Chargers fandom on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday morning.
Many online still question where her true loyalties lie after pictures with her in full Vikings gear came to light across the Internet.
This was quickly debunked as false and explanations were provided later on in the week.
The tired narrative that the Bolts have no fans only got worse when Dean Spanos decided to move the franchise to Los Angeles from their home in San Diego back in 2016.
Since the move to his new city, opposing fans have filled seats out and Charger players often struggle on offense to hear each other due to road teams traveling well alongside their own loyal fans.
A better question to pose from this silly debate is why anyone should care about the reactions of one single fan.
ESPN chose to place a camera on Do for her reactions and she delivered in spades just what they wanted; good T.V. material.
The Do saga shouldn't need an explanation nor should critics even surface over such a harmless incident.
Sports fandom is one of the few areas left in the world that doesn't discriminate between race, religion or any other distinguishable factor that society would rather weaponize against each other than recognize.
Do's place as a woman and minority football fan isn't lost on such a debate as some would rather point out these factors seemingly out of spite rather than just let her be.
One thing remains clear from this whole situation.
If people want to choose a team to support for any sport, why should it be anybody's business?
Even if such a choice leads to a perennial underachieving NFL franchise, Do should be able to root for such parameters in peace.
