The Los Angeles Chargers are entering a crucial offseason after a tough 2023 season. The team finished the year with a 5-12 record, ultimately firing former head coach Brandon Staley just before the season concluded.

With new head coach Jim Harbaugh in the mix, the Chargers have a certain buzz to them that they haven't had in quite some time. Los Angeles feels ready to take that next step that many have been waiting for, and they've revamped the entire coaching staff to fit their needs.

However, one former Chargers coach will be returning to the squad. Former quarterbacks coach Shane Day will take over the job once again. He was in the same position for the team from 2021 to 2022.

Bolts star quarterback Justin Herbert was ecstatic about the return of Day, and he is ready to learn more from him. He had high praise for the coach and the way that he led the position group.

"Shane Day has been one of my favorite coaches of all time," Herbert said. "Just his understanding of the game, the way he treats that quarterback room, the way he gets prepared. He's a true professional and you can kind of talk to that as well."

Herbert is entering a critical spot as well, as he needs to show he can elevate this team. There are no more excuses for the young quarterback, and he needs to earn the money that the team gave him last season.

"How prepared he is each week and how much he understands about the game and he's an incredible person too," Herbert added. "To have a guy like that in your corner to fight for you, to teach you and to help you grow, there's no one better than that."

Having a familiar presence like Day should help him find success, and Herbert understands the pressure on him. Working alongside Day allowed Herbert to thrive, and he is looking to have more of the same results this coming year.
