Chargers 'Privately' Met With Potential First-Round Star Offensive Lineman

The Los Angeles Chargers currently own the #5 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and it has placed them in a very advantageous position. The team could easily select a premiere WR at #5, but this is such a deep class that they could still find a quality starter should they choose to trade down.

There are many quarterback-hungry teams that are likely wanting to leap their competitors to secure their signal caller of the future, which incudes teams like the Raiders, Broncos, and Vikings. Many mock drafts have the Vikings trading up to #5 and giving the Chargers two first-round picks.

Should the Chargers trade back, they would likely secure a day-one starting OL to bolster the protecttion of Justin Herbert. One such OL is Washington's Troy Fautanu. It has also been reported that Fautanu has already met with the Bolts ahead of the draft.

Fautanu met with the Chargers before his Pro Day appearance, and there is a lot interest from both sides. Fautanu would be a huge asset to the Chargers o-line rebuilding effort.

He is tough and physical, which is a trait that will come highly coveted to head coach Jim Harbaugh. Harbaugh wants a high degree of physicality in his teams, and Fautanu fits that bill.

The 6'4" and 317 lb lineman could spte into a starting role immediately and help bolster a line that features Rashawn Slater, Bradley Bozeman, and Trey Pipkins III.

Fautanu would be the most logical choice should the Chargers trade down to somewhere in the 10-15 range in picks. They might also net another first-round pick, which could lead to two quality starters.
