Falcons Sign Starting Cardinals CB
Antonio Hamilton now heads to the ATL.
ARIZONA -- The Atlanta Falcons are signing former Arizona Cardinals starting CB Antonio Hamilton, according to reporter Michael Rothstein.
"Falcons sign cornerback Antonio Hamilton. The 31-year-old played eight seasons -- the last three with Arizona," Rothstein wrote in a tweet. "He's appeared in 98 games with 18 starts, all but two with the Cardinals. He has 172 career tackles, 25 passes defensed & two interceptions."
Hamilton first entered the league with the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2016. He previously spent time with the New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before signing to Arizona's practice squad in 2021.
Last season, Hamilton started nine games for the Cardinals in a secondary that eventually released Marco Wilson due to poor play and three rookies (Garrett Williams, Kei'Trel Clark and Starling Thomas V) heavily in the rotation. He had a career-high 11 passes defensed in 2023 with one interception.
Arizona signed Sean Murphy-Bunting in free agency this offseason and could look to bolster their cornerback room further in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Cardinals have officially met with the following corners ahead of the draft, which starts on April 25:
Auburn's Nehemiah Pritchett
Louisville's Jarvis Brownlee Jr.
Syracuse's Isaiah Johnson
Kentucky's Andru Phillips
Alabama's Terrion Arnold
Hamilton joins a Falcons squad that features names such as A.J. Terrell, Clark Phillips III, Dee Alford and Mike Hughes.
