Oregon Speedster Visits Browns Ahead Of April's NFL Draft

Former Oregon wide receiver Troy Franklin can flat-out fly. On Tuesday, he reportedly found himself in Berea to meet with the Browns for the second time in this pre-draft process.

Franklin finished the 2023 season with 81 catches, 1,383 yards and 14 touchdowns. Most importantly, he ranked eighth in the country in "deep catches" with 14 for 588 yards.

Oregon made no secret about it that he was their deep threat. What makes Franklin such an intriguing prospect is the fact that he can do much more than only serve as a deep threat. He was a weapon for Oregon at both the underneath and intermediate levels of the passing game.

Franklin's measurables are pretty favorable. He stands at 6'2" and tips the scale at a lean 176 pounds. His testing speed was one of the fastest in this class. Franklin ran a 4.41 40-yard dash with a 1.61 10-yard split. For comparison, his 10-yard split was just .12 seconds slower than speedster Xavier Worthy's when Worthy set the record for the fastest 40-yard dash in combine history.

Cleveland clearly has significant interested in Franklin. His visit to the Browns facility is his second meeting with the team after meeting with them in Indianapolis at the NFL Combine.

Franklin's speed and size would allow him to stretch the field for the Browns, opening up space for Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, Elijah Moore and David Njoku underneath.

Franklin has drawn the player comparison of former Ohio State Buckeye Chris Olave. If he does fall into the late 40's to early 50's in this years draft, don't be shocked if Cleveland makes a move for him.
