Joe Flacco Nominated For Week 14 Air Player Of The Week
Joe Flacco’s special performance Sunday against the Jaguars has already locked up his job as the Browns’ starting quarterback for the rest of this season — and it might help him secure another notable accolade from the NFL as well.
Flacco was nominated for the NFL’s Air Player of the Week Award for Week 14 after he completed 26 of 45 pass attempts for 311 passing yards and three touchdowns with one interception. The 38-year-old further solidified himself as one of the biggest unsung heroes in Cleveland and became the first Browns player to surpass 300 passing yards in a game since Jacoby Brissett totaled 324 at Buffalo on Nov. 20, 2022.

The idea that Flacco could win the award felt impossible three weeks ago, when he was stuck in free agency and appeared to be an afterthought among NFL teams looking for QB help. The Browns gave Flacco the call he was looking for after learning Deshaun Watson was going to miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury suffered in Week 10, and he started his first game for them last week after just two weeks on the practice squad.
Now, he’s become the unquestioned top passing option for the Browns — and has already played at a level higher than the three quarterbacks who preceded him this season.
The Browns took a giant step closer to the playoffs Sunday because of it.
Flacco will compete against his former Ravens teammate, Lamar Jackson, and 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy for the award. Fans decide the winner, and they can cast their votes here.
