One Of The NFL's Top Corners Has High Praise For Browns WR Amari Cooper

Does Browns WR Amari Cooper deserve more respect? This young cornerback thinks so.

In just two seasons in the NFL. Sauce Gardner has already ascended to being considered one of the best corners in the game. The Jets star had some high praise for Browns wideout Amari Cooper who he went head-to-head with in 2022.

A few weeks back, Gardner joined The Pivot Podcast, hosted by Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor and Channing Crowder, and made a point in calling out Cooper as one of the most underappreciated receivers in the game.

"You know who I like, who really like that," Gardner asked the crew of former NFLers. "Amari Cooper."

Taylor then offered a quick to response, saying "Coop is definitely like that," to which Gardner followed up by pointing out that the Browns star is never mentioned in people's top five wide receivers.

Gardner saw first hand what Cooper was capable of in just the second game of his rookie campaign. The veteran wideout hauled in nine passes for 101 yards and a touchdown in a game that saw Cleveland blow a 13-point lead in the final two minutes of regulation and ultimately lose 31-30.

Ironically, Joe Flacco captained the improbable comeback effort for New York. One year later, Flacco was leading the Browns past the Jets to clinch a playoff berth in what was Gardner's second matchup against Cleveland. Cooper, however, didn't play in that game due to injury.

To Gardner's point, Cooper does tend to fly under the radar when it comes to being ranked among his contemporaries at the position despite the fact that he has the 11th most passing yards in the league since 2020 and the eighth most since joining the Browns in 2022. The former Raiders and Cowboys wideout also became the first receiver in Browns franchise history to put up back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons.

Despite the face that Gardner has only been in the league for two years, game recognize game and he knows Cooper is one of the best wide receivers in the business.
