Wizards Sit At Bottom Of Watchability Rankings
It’s no secret that the Wizards are going through a “re-tooling” as they have frequently called it to avoid the terminology “rebuild.” No matter how you refer to it, new leadership offloaded many of those left on the roster, including franchise player Bradley Beal who took other valuable Wizards assets with him in the trade to Phoenix.
Prior to that, Wizards superstar John Wall was unexpectedly traded to the Houston Rockets. The fact is, the Wizards are now a completely different team.
Because of that, they are sitting at the bottom of watchability rankings headed into the 2023-24 season. Everyone can agree that Kyle Kuzma and Jordan Poole will be an entertaining duo but not enough to make the Wizards an exciting team to watch.
According to Zach Lowe’s NBA League Pass rankings, which is based on most watchable and entertaining teams, he put the Wizards dead last at #30. Below is a snippet from his analysis:
“With better roster moves, the Wall-Beal Wiz could have been something. They're gone now. The lottery pick that could define the franchise's next phase hasn't arrived; that is the point of this season.”
“It will be fun watching Jordan Poole and Kyle Kuzma battle for the team scoring lead, while Traditional Point Guard Tyus Jones tries to organize plays, Kispert runs around screens without ever getting the ball, and Avdija waits and waits to attack a closeout. Do you think Danilo Gallinari wakes up and wonders where he is? Hell, I could use a random Davis Bertans heat check. The in-game experience is forgettable.”
In another ranking by The Score, the Wizards are ranked #28 on their watchability list. They also noted that the combination of Kuzma and Poole provides some intrigue.
Either way it goes, Wizards fans are not happy with the lack of respect from national media. As for the team, the negative headlines should be motivation to be everything critics expect them not to be this season.
