Steph Curry Reacts to Steve Kerr Limiting His Minutes
The Golden State Warriors are being careful with Steph Curry
The Golden State Warriors dropped another winnable game on Sunday night, falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves 114-110. Star point guard Steph Curry was a +6 in his minutes, but played just 29 minutes and 50 seconds, which was what Steve Kerr described as the team's goal to keep him around 30 minutes.
When asked about this after the game, and if he can play more minutes than he played on Sunday, Curry said, “The situation will define itself pretty clearly - it is in real time. Every game matters. We’re inching closer to the other end of the standings… Nobody is gonna wave the white flag. If that means playing more minutes, I’ll be ready to do that."
As Curry noted, the Warriors continue to lose their grip on the 10th seed, as the surging Houston Rockets have cut the gap to just one game. What was at one point presented as a late-season attempt to move up the standings has now turned into an attempt to maintain the 10th seed, which is already a less than ideal scenario for Golden State.
With such inconsistent production outside of Curry, the Warriors may have to reevaluate how they choose to spread his minutes around for the remainder of the season. The margin for error is now as slim as ever for the Warriors.
