Lob.com CEO Leore Avidar made the $1.8 million purchase at Goldin Auctions after a series of bids that started at $150,000 for the 2003 number one overall pick’s rookie card. The price tag on the rare card is the most any basketball card has ever sold for, surpassing the previous record set at the same auction house when a signed Mike Trout rookie card, one of only five produced, sold for $922,500 in May.
