Houston Rockets vs. Atlanta Hawks Preview: How to Watch, Injury Reports, Lineups, More

The Houston Rockets will try to end a two-game losing streak Wednesday night against the Atlanta Hawks.

The Houston Rockets will try to end their two-game losing skid Wednesday night during an interconference battle against the Atlanta Hawks.

For the Rockets to break their losing streak, they must find a way to slow down All-Star point guard Trae Young. After scoring 31 points in a win over the Detroit Pistons, Young is averaging 28.0 points on .429/.378/.875 shooting splits. He has also averaged 11.0 assists.

The Rockets arguably had their worst defensive performance of the season despite a 135-130 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers Monday night.

They gave up a season-high in points, and for the second consecutive night, Houston allowed a player to have a big scoring performance, as Donovan Mitchell finished with 37 points on 14 of 27 shooting. He scored 20 en route to helping the Cavaliers score 40 points in the third quarter.

The two-game losing streak is a testament to the defensive decline the Rockets have experienced after establishing themselves as one of the top teams on defense. In Sunday's loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, Damian Lillard finished with a then-season-high 39 points on 11 of 19 shooting, 5 of 8 from behind the arc.

"Over the last two nights, it did feel like there was a lack of attention to detail while playing two of the best guards in the league," Fred VanVleet said. "But outside of that, there have been a lot of blown coverages, offensive rebounds and losing loose balls. All of those things are uncharacteristic for us."

Rockets forward Jabari Smith Jr. (1) reacts to his three-point basket against Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray (5) in the third quarter at Toyota Center.
