Pistons Come Up Short Against Clippers

Once again, the Pistons faded a bit down the stretch resulting in a close loss to a solid team.

The Pistons were up by 14 at halftime but a poor third quarter allowed the Clippers to erase the deficit almost entirely. After another losing quarter by Detroit in the fourth, the Pistons ended up losing 106-102.

Cade Cunningham, once again, stuffed the stat sheet and actually came up just one rebound shy of his first career triple-double. The super rookie dumped in 23 points, dished out 10 assists and snared nine rebounds. His four, starting running mates each hit double figures as well, led by Jerami Grant's 21. Unfortunately, the thin group of three reserves consisting of Saben Lee, Kelly Olynyk and Isaiah Livers only scored a total of 20 points.

The Clippers, on the other hand, got 36 points from its bench, led by former Piston Luke Kennard with 16. Another former Piston, Marcus Morris Sr. led all scorers with 31 big points. Yet another former Piston, Reggie Jackson, had himself a day as well scoring 15, dishing out nine assists and grabbing eight rebounds.

The Pistons continue to battle teams who, at least on paper, have more talent than them as they grow and bond. They'll get a chance to do it again on Tuesday night in Miami against the No. 1 seed in the East.
