Cade Cunningham Opens up on Pistons New Additions

Pistons guard shares thoughts on team's new additions.

This year, the Detroit Pistons were one of the busiest teams at the NBA trade deadline. The front office made a flurry of moves to bring in new young talent and set the team up better moving forward.

Coming out of the All-Star break, a handful of the new additions have started seeing their way into Monty Williams' rotation. This includes Simone Fontecchio, who started against the Indiana Pacers Thursday, and Malachi Flynn. Veteran forward Evan Fournier has also shown nice flashes in his first handful of games with Detroit.

In the Pistons' 129-115 loss to the Pacers, Cade Cunningham was the main standout. The former No. 1 pick came out of the break strong, posting 30 points, five rebounds, and eight assists. However, it was not enough to get his team in the win column.

After the game, Cunningham was asked about the Pistons' deadline acquisitions. He's enjoyed what they've brought so far and thinks they can improve the team overall moving forward.

"I think they played with pop today. When they came in, they brought us some energy and that jumpstarted us getting back into the game," Cunningham said. "I think as they get more acclimated to what we do and we get more to them, just us gelling will help us play a better brand of basketball."

Fontecchio finished in double figures against the Pacers, notching 14 points on 50% shooting. Flynn did a little bit of everything off the bench, posting a stat line of two points, one rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

The only remaining addition not to make his debut yet for the Pistons is Quentin Grimes. He is dealing with a knee injury that occurred during his time with the New York Knicks. However, the young guard is currently listed as probable for Saturday's matchup against the Orlando Magic
