Former Nuggets Starter Works Out With Warriors
A recent report from Michael Scotto of HoopsHype revealed that former Denver Nuggets guard Will Barton was amongst a group of veteran free agents that recently worked out for the Golden State Warriors. Golden State has a couple of roster spots available, and seems to be targeting impact veterans for those final spots.
Barton spent eight seasons with the Nuggets, and is second all-time in franchise history in made three pointers. Spending time with the Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors last season, Barton is looking to land another NBA job.
For his career, Barton has averaged 11.1 PPG. His best season came with the Nuggets in 2018 when he played in 81 games, and averaged 15.7 PPG. While Barton is not the player he was during his time with Denver, he could still be a solid depth option for a contender. Just two seasons removed from averaging 14.7 PPG as a starter for the Nuggets, Barton could still have some scoring juice left at age 32.
The Warriors are looking at several different options to fill out their roster, and while one of those available spots will likely go to a veteran big man, there could be an additional guard/forward spot open for somebody like Barton. As Golden State looks to bounce back from their second round exit, rounding out their bench will be important.
