Carter played just one season for the Magic back in 2009-10, the only time he made it to the Conference Finals in his career. He also played for the Toronto Raptors (1998-04), New Jersey Nets (2004-09), Phoenix Suns (2010-11), Dallas Mavericks (2011-14), Memphis Grizzlies (2014-17), Sacramento Kings (2017-18) and Atlanta Hawks (2018-20).

Carter is arriving to the Hall of Fame on his first year of eligibility and he'll join former NBA Finals MVP Chauncey Billups in his class.

Carter, a Daytona Beach, Fl. native, was the No. 5 overall pick in the historic 1998 NBA Draft by the Raptors and became an instant superstar. In just his second NBA season, Carter was an All-Star and became a household name when he won the 2000 NBA Slam Dunk Contest.

From there, he became one of the most marketable players in the league and he helped put the Raptors (who joined the league in 1995 as an expansion franchise) on the map. He was traded to the Nets in 2004 and continued his prime, helping New Jersey in some deep playoff runs. However, he was unable to get them over the hump.

His trade to the Magic after their Finals run in 2009 saw a shift in Carter's role. He went from the star to the supporting cast, a role he played into his 40s, something rare to see in the NBA nowadays.
