Magic Cruise to Victory in Blowout Win vs. Nets
ORLANDO - The Orlando Magic are celebrating one of their biggest wins of the season after a 108-81 thrashing of the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night at the Kia Center.
The Magic took advantage of a short-handed and tired Nets squad that won on Monday night against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Despite playing without reigning Rookie of the Year Paolo Banchero, the Magic built a comfortable lead in the first quarter and never let it break. In the second half, the lead ballooned to as much as 32 points.
Franz Wagner led all scorers with 21 points on an efficient 8 of 11 shooting from the field. He was one of five Magic players to score in double figures.
The Nets were led by Dennis Schroder, who scored 15 points of his own. Mikal Bridges struggled mightily, making just 2 of 14 from the field for four points.
The win allows the Magic to keep pace in the Eastern Conference standings as they fight for a top-six spot that will keep the team safe from participating in the Play-In Tournament.
The Magic have a lot of winnable games down the stretch and ensuring that they execute is going to be key.
The Magic are back in action on Thursday when they host the Utah Jazz. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
