Lakers Rumors: LA Among 3 Teams Interested in Trading for Zach LaVine, Per NBA Insider
News dropped earlier on Tuesday about the Chicago Bulls finally being open to trading All-Star guard Zach LaVine, and much speculation fell that the Lakers may be interested. Well, NBA insider Shams Charania added fuel to the fire of the Lakers interest in LaVine, listing them as one of three teams that will likely look to acquire him.
The other teams mentioned were the Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat. If the Lakers are competing with these two teams for LaVine, it may be tough for them to land him. They both likely have more to offer Chicago in return for the All-Star.
But if the Lakers were to find a way to land LaVine, it would be huge for their season. He would give them the three-headed monster that they have been longing for since LeBron James and Anthony Davis first joined the squad.
LaVine is a reliable scorer and ball-handler who could help take some of the load off James throughout the season. Despite the issues of the Bulls this year, LaVine has contributed his part, averaging 21.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.
This type of production alongside James and Davis would make the Lakers one of the favorites to win the NBA title this season, and it would help level the playing field against some opponents. Many teams have gone the three-star route again this year, so LA would just be following suit.
The biggest downside to any potential deal would be the contract of LaVine that the Lakers would have to take on. The front office may not be willing to spend more of their limited resources and take away the flexibility that they have built over the last year.
But the allure of having LaVine alongside their other two stars may be too much for the Lakers to handle. He would give them a much better chance to win the NBA title this year, and all the Lakers are focused on right now, is what happens this season.
