Lakers News: How LeBron James Feels About His Son Bronny Entering NBA Next Year
The thought of LeBron James teaming up with his son Bronny has grown in recent years, as the freshman at USC is eligible to enter the NBA Draft this year. James himself can become a free agent at the end of the season, giving more thought to the pairing.
However, Rich Paul, James' longtime friend and agent revealed how his client feels about the idea of pairing up with his son next season.
"LeBron wants Bronny to be his own man," Paul said, although he noted that LeBron would be "head over heels excited if that were to happen organically."
The Lakers have been thought to be interested in landing Bronny in the draft, possibly to appease James. But with this reveal, it may be better for the team to allow things to work themselves out.
Bronny hasn't been overly impressive in college so far, but that could be due to his medical issues from last summer. He unfortunately suffered a cardiac arrest before the college season started, but thankfully was cleared to return to game action.
It's been a tough go for the freshman guard, and some believe he should stay in college for another year to develop. However, the allure of the NBA may be too much for him to hold off.
Paul also mentioned that the most important thing for Bronny is to go to a team that can help develop him. Going high in the lottery won't do him any good if he can't turn himself into a better player.
"I don't value a young player getting into the lottery as much as I do getting him on the right team in the right developmental situation," Paul said on Saturday, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Bronny has to be the one to make the decision for himself, no matter what James wants. He is his own person, and ultimately, it will fall on him to face whatever path he chooses.
