LaMelo Ball Expected to Miss 'Extended Time' with 'Serious' Ankle Sprain, Per Report

More unfortunate news for the Charlotte Hornets.

For the second year in a row, it looks like the Charlotte Hornets will be battling the injury bug. Cody Martin has yet to return, James Bouknight and Terry Rozier just got cleared, and they're still without Frank Ntilikina and Nick Richards.

But the biggest blow to this team is the latest ankle injury to LaMelo Ball, who exited Sunday's game in Orlando and did not return. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Ball suffered a serious sprain in his right ankle and is expected to miss extended time. The good news, however, is that Ball avoided a fracture in the ankle which is what resulted in surgery toward the end of last season.

Ball suffered multiple ankle injuries last year which held him out of 46 games. Over the last couple of weeks, Ball finally started to get into rhythm and was one of the most prolific offensive players in the game, averaging 32.2 points over his last nine games.
