Jonathan Kuminga Drama Paves Way For Miami Heat To Potentially Develop Him
The Miami Heat are known for their ability to scout and develop players of all talent levels.
Some of the most notable include Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, and Haywood Highsmith. Former No. 7 pick for the Golden State Warriors, Jonathan Kuminga, is the latest player Miami could acquire and assist in reaching his ceiling.
"After sitting for the final 18 minutes of Thursday night’s loss to the Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga has lost faith in coach Steve Kerr," The Athletic's Shams Charania wrote. "And the 2021 lottery pick no longer believes Kerr will allow him to reach his full potential."
Kuminga is averaging 12.8 points on 50.6 percent shooting in 33 games this season. At 21 years old, Kuminga has plenty of time to blossom into the star he was expected to become.
Although Miami has not developed a player of his draft stature, their recent success speaks for itself. Their depth is one of the greatest reasons for the Heat's multiple NBA Finals runs in the Jimmy Butler era. They have displayed an impressive ability to replace their key contributors around their stars.
Gabe Vincent and Max Strus departed from the team last offseason after acting as major pieces in their Finals run last year. However, the Heat were able to fill in the holes with rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr. and guard Josh Richardson.
