Summary

For the first time in over a year, the basketball world was treated to a matchup between Trae Young and Ja Morant. It was an evenly-matched battle, but the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Atlanta Hawks 123-119.

Morant led Memphis with 27 points, willing his way to the line several times where he hit 9-11 (81.8%) free throws. Desmond Bane provided the counterpunch to Atlanta's perimeter defense by providing an efficient 25 points.

Young led Atlanta with 28 points and ten assists. However, the floor general did not get much help from his teammates. Atlanta shot a dreadful 7-31 (22.6%) from deep. De'Andre Hunter, Dejounte Murray, and Saddiq Bey were uncharacteristically cold throughout the game.

For Hawks fans searching for a silver lining, Atlanta's centers played well. Clint Capela battled all game and logged 18 points and 16 rebounds. Onyeka Okongwu came off the bench to provide 13 points and seven rebounds without missing a shot.

Atlanta falls to 37-38, while Memphis improves to 47-27 on the season. The Hawks have one day off before hosting the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night in State Farm Arena.
