Summary

The Atlanta Hawks were serious underdogs entering Saturday afternoon's matchup against the Boston Celtics, but no one was expecting such a display of dominance. Boston beat Atlanta 112-99 to take a 1-0 series lead.

Boston set the tone early with a ten-point advantage at the end of the first quarter before taking a 30-point lead into halftime. To Atlanta's credit, they fought back and narrowed the deficit down to 12 points in the fourth quarter before running out of gas.

Atlanta's defense almost always struggles, so three Celtics starters scoring 24+ points was not surprising. Unfortunately, Atlanta's much-improved offense was nonexistent for large swaths of the game.

Trae Young's shooting woes continued as he hit just 5-18 (27.8%) of his field goal attempts, finishing with 16 points and eight assists. Dejounte Murray kept the game close with 24 points, but Atlanta shot a dismal 38.8% from the field and 17.2% from deep.

Game 2 of the best-of-seven series is scheduled for Tuesday, April 18, at 7:00 p.m. EST in Boston. Stay locked into AllHawks.com for news, highlights, and analysis.
