LA Clippers Reportedly Interested in Klay Thompson
While it remains to be seen what happens in the post-season, the LA Clippers currently have the greatest team they've ever assembled in franchise history. Even with that, there's always room for improvement, and the team may be looking to do just that in the off-season.
According to a report from Shams Charania, the LA Clippers may be among the teams interested in Klay Thompson when he becomes a free agent at the end of the season. Even with the reported interest, it's very tough to see how the Clippers could even afford Thompson, though.
"He's set to be a free agent at the end of the season," Charania said. "From everything, I expect him to test the marketplace. I would expect both Florida teams, both LA teams, potentially a couple of East Coast teams to have interest in Klay Thompson. As of right now, unless there's a miracle extension, he's going to test the marketplace. The Warriors have understood going into the year after they didn't expect him, his future is up in the air just for the simple fact that he's going into free agency."
The only way Klay Thompson could even fit salary-wise on the Clippers would be if he's willing to take a massive pay cut to come off the bench, or if the Clippers actually lose Paul George to free agency. If it were the latter, it's tough to see Thompson being a legitimate replacement for George.
