Joel Embiid’s Injury Report Status for Sixers vs. Pistons on Tuesday
What's Joel Embiid's status on the Philadelphia 76ers' injury report?
The Philadelphia 76ers are firing up the final week of the 2023-2024 regular season on Tuesday night with a matchup against the Detroit Pistons.
Heading into the game, the Sixers are unsure whether their star center Joel Embiid will get the opportunity to play.
On the initial injury report, which was released on Monday night, Embiid was listed as questionable. While the big man hasn’t suffered any setbacks lately, Embiid has been managing his knee injury since his return.
One week ago, the Sixers believed they would go into their matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder without Embiid in the mix. However, the star center went through multiple pregame workouts on the day of the matchup and found himself upgraded to available.
While the Sixers’ decision to play Embiid last Tuesday led to a hefty fine, as they violated injury reporting rules, Embiid’s return to action has been a major boost for the team.
Against the Thunder, the Sixers pulled off the upset win. Embiid checked in for 29 minutes, scoring 24 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Two nights later, the Sixers paid a visit to the Miami Heat.
Although Embiid was questionable against the Heat, he was cleared for action and appeared on the court for over 30 minutes. He scored 29 points, while coming down with four rebounds, and dishing out three assists.
When the Sixers fired up a back-to-back on Saturday night against the Memphis Grizzlies, Embiid was cleared for action after being listed as questionable. As the Sixers put together a dominant 20-point victory, Embiid got an early night off. Despite seeing the court for fewer than 23 minutes, Embiid produced a double-double with 30 points and 12 rebounds.
The following night, the Sixers paid a visit to the San Antonio Spurs. From the jump, the Sixers made it clear Embiid would not play. Being that it was a back-to-back, splitting the matchups made sense for Embiid, who is easing his way back in after an eight-game absence.
After getting two days off, there is a chance Embiid could return to action on Tuesday. The star center will likely have to go through his pregame warmups before determining his final playing status for the matchup.
The Sixers and the Pistons will tip-off at 7 PM ET.
