Jorge Masvidal in Talks to Headline UFC 251
The UFC is in negotiations with Jorge Masvidal to headline UFC 251. This news comes just one day after Gilbert Burns tested positive for the coronavirus and was scratched from his title fight. Burns was originally scheduled to fight Kamaru Usman in the UCF 251 main event.
ESPN's Ariel Helwani is reporting Masvidal is in negotiations to replace Burns but a deal is not close to being finalized.
Masvidal reportedly took and passed a coronavirus antibody test on Saturday but he will need to pass three coronavirus tests in order to be allowed to fight if an agreement gets reached. Masvidal vs Usman was the original fight everyone wanted to see but UFC couldn't get a deal done. They instead decided to go with a cheaper option with Gilbert Burns. Even if UFC does not get a deal done with Masvidal again, UFC 251 will still feature two other title fights.
