Royals vs. Brewers: Live Updates, May 7, 2024

Follow along as the Royals take on the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers in the second game of the series.

Up 5-3 in the top of the ninth inning, it seemed like all the momentum was on the Kansas City Royals' side and that they'd pick up their second victory of the series against the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night.

However, Royals closerJames McArthur allowed a three-run two-out homer to Brewers shortstop Willy Adames, which gave Milwaukee the eventual 6-5 win.

8:52 p.m.: Isbel singles, but the other three Royals batters don't reach first base in the bottom of the eighth inning.

8:45 p.m.: Reliever John Schreiber filled in for Zerpa in the top of the eighth inning, and allowed two hits but also threw two strikeouts.

8:30 p.m.: After Witt grounded into a fielder's choice, Pasquantino brought him home with an RBI single. Massey also singled two batters later, but the runners would be left on the corners to end the bottom of the seventh inning. Royals 5, Brewers 3

8:18 p.m.: Despite being in a two-out hole, the Brewers center fielder Bryce Perkins singled, but an error put him on second. Andruw Monasterio pinch-hit for Sal Frelick and also singled to bring in a run. Lugo allowed another single after this and was taken out of the game for Angel Zerpa, who was able to get out of the top of the seventh inning by striking out pinch hitter Gary Sanchez. Royals 4, Brewers 3

8:05 p.m.: Milner keeps the Royals' bats cool throughout the bottom of the sixth inning, as he threw two more strikeouts.

7:56 p.m.: Lugo throws fourth strikeout of the night in 1-2-3 top of the sixth inning.

7:51 p.m.: Designated hitter MJ Melendez opens up the bottom of the fifth inning with a triple and center fielder Kyle Isbel's single brought him in with one out for the Royals' first run. Witt proceeded to single with two outs and Pasquantino doubled to bring in two more runs. It didn't stop there as Perez also doubled to add another tally to the scoreboard. Rea was taken out and reliever Hoby Milner struck out Massey to end the stellar inning. Royals 4, Brewers 2

7:38 p.m.: Brewers left fielder Jackson Chourio and catcher William Contreras each record a single, but finish the top of fifth inning stranded on the corners.

7:30 p.m.: Catcher Salvador Perez lines out, second baseman Michael Massey fouls out and right fielder Hunter Renfroe grounds out in the bottom of the fourth inning.

7:25 p.m.: Lugo doesn't allow a player to reach first base for the second consecutive inning, as he tallied his second strikeout of the night.

7:20 p.m: Witt got on-base for the second time of the night, this time via a two-out single, but he'd be left there after Pasquantino flew out to end the bottom of the third inning.

7:13 p.m.: Lugo comes off rough second inning with a strong 1-2-3 top of the third, including his first strikeout thrown of the evening.

7:09 p.m.: Royals batters go 1-2-3 in quick bottom of the second inning.

7:02 p.m.: Royals pitcher Seth Lugo gives up his two runs of the night as Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins and third baseman Joey Ortiz hit back-to-back solo home runs in the top of the second inning. Brewers 2, Royals 0

6:55 p.m. Shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. is the first Royal to reach first base as he was walked by Brewers pitcher Colin Rea, and first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino immediately followed this with a single. But Milwaukee proceeded to earn the second and third out of the inning.

6:46 p.m.: With two outs, Milwaukee gets designated hitter Tyler Black and shortstop Willy Adames on base with a single and walk respectively, but they'd be stranded after the next batter to end the top of the first inning.
