Cincinnati Reds Rally, Beat New York Mets 9-6
The Reds are 5-3 this season.
The Reds beat the Mets 9-6 on Saturday night. They rallied back to win game two of the series and improve to 5-3 on the season.
Nick Martinez had a bit of a rough start. He gave up five runs, eight hits and one walk in five innings. He also had six strikeouts.
The game got going as Elly De La Cruz reached on a fielding error and Will Benson scored as he doubled earlier in the inning. De La Cruz also scored after Jonathan India walked.
An equalizing single from Omar Narváez is what scored the tying run. Immediately after Brandon Nimmo doubled and scored two runs himself.
Sterling Marte scored a run after a double from Tyrone Taylor. The game was looking out of reach as it was 5-2 in the fifth. Stuart Fairchild had a RBI single and Spencer Steer stole home to chip away at the lead in the sixth.
The Reds tied the game when De La Cruz extended his hitting streak to 13 with a RBI single.
Steer continued to have one of the hottest bats in the league as he hit a three-run go-ahead home run to jump the lead up to 8-5 for the Reds.
Eventually, the Reds got to nine runs after Fairchild scored from a sacrifice fly hit by Christian Encarnacion-Strand.
Alexis Diaz finished the game off and the Reds took the second game of the series.
The series finale will be on Sunday when the Reds take on the Mets. Andrew Abbott will take the mound.
