Sean Casey: 'Reds Have a Superstar in Elly De La Cruz'

The 21-year-old had an instant impact for Cincinnati last season.

CINCINNATI — Elly De La Cruz took baseball by storm last summer and even though he might've hit a rookie wall toward the end of the season, Reds legend Sean Casey isn't worried about the soon-to-be 22-year-old.

"He runs like Deion Sanders, hits like... tough to compare maybe to Griffey, but he has that kinda power," Casey said. "He's a great fielder. He can run, all that stuff. You know what, I think you can't teach experience. I think his experience last year is going to propel him this season. I wouldn't do much with him. I'd just let him continue to figure out what makes him great. He's had success everywhere he's gone. I'd just let him continue to figure out who he is, what his approach is, what's his process is to play every single day and be the best version of himself."

De La Cruz quickly became one of the biggest stars in all of baseball. He'll look to take a big step forward this season. He'll turn 22-years-old on Jan. 11.

He posted a .235/.300/.410 slash line last season. Listen to Casey's comments below:
