Angels News: Halos Call Up Another 2022 Draft Pick As All-In Season Continues

The Angels are continuing its trend of calling up recently drafted players as they continue to do anything they can to win this season.
On Saturday, the Halos called up 2022 6th round draft pick, Victor Mederos to make his major league debut.
The Cuban pitcher will be make the jump to the MLB after only pitching in 18 minor league games in his career.
In AA this season, Mederos has started in 12 games, but hasn't done so well. On the season he has a 5.98 ERA and has given up 13 home runs in 55 innings.
Mederos did have a solid outing last time he was out as he tossed two innings and gave up one run.
This is the third player from the Angels' 2022 draft class to make their debut this season.
Shortstop Zach Neto was called up earlier in the year and performed well despite never being higher than AA.
In the majors this season, Neto is hitting .259 with six home runs and 22 RBIs.
Flamethrower Ben Joyce is the other player to make his debut this season. Just like Mederos and Neto, Joyce never pitched above AA before being called up.
Joyce hasn't been as successful as Neto in the majors. In four innings he has an ERA of 4.50 and batters are hitting .313 off of him.
The current trend of the Angels calling up prospects who were recently drafted are apart of the win-now strategy the team is using.
With Shoehi Ohtani's impending free agency, the Angels front office is trying to show him that they can put a winning team around him.
In Ohtani's first six seasons, he has yet to play in the postseason. By winning now and showing Ohtani that the future of the team is in good hand, the Angels are hoping the Japanese star will resign.
