Angels Considering 2 Versatile Free Agent Hitters, All-Star Pitcher: Report
The Los Angeles Angels offseason hasn't been all glitzy and glamourous, but it hasn't need to be. The team had brought in some extra talent across the board, including within the bullpen.
However, the team isn't done trying to add just yet. The front office is determined to be competitive for next season, and they want to do whatever they can to break the long playoff drought.
The New York Post's Jon Heyman has reported that the Angels are looking into adding some additional pieces to their depth. They are looking at veteran infielders Amed Rosario and Kike Hernandez while also taking a look at Michael Lorenzen to help bolster the rotation.
"But they are also looking at depth pieces and are said to be considering former Met Amed Rosario, Kiké Hernandez, and a solid back-end starter like Lorenzen, an Orange County and Cal-State Fullerton product who may like the idea of going home."
Adding either Hernandez or Rosario would provide the Halos with a solid veteran presence on the team. The team could use more depth along the edges of the roster, something each could provide.
The Angels have some young pieces within their infield, and both players could bring needed experience. With new manager Ron Washington in the mix, the Angels will look to get more from their infielders.
As far as Lorenzen, they believe that they can still add to their rotation. Lorenzen would be a cheaper option that could provide them with more arms throughout the season.
Angels general manager Perry Minasian is looking at different avenues to bring in talent, which is something fans should be excited about. The season starts soon, but the Angels could still bring in some new faces.
