Main Event Announced for Beyond Wrestling’s Shamrock Slam
Beyond Wrestling will be part of the iconic Harpoon St. Patrick’s Festival in Boston.
Presented by Clown Shoes and hosted by Beyond, the Shamrock Slam will take place on Friday, March 8, headlined by a main event pitting Matt Cardona against Alec Price.
Beyond founder Drew Cordeiro is hungry for his promotion to make a statement. The card–which also features Kris Statlander, Willow Nightingale, Mace and Mansoor, Megan Bayne, and Joey Janela–is poised to do exactly that.
“It’s the biggest show in Beyond Wrestling history,” said Cordeiro. “The capacity is over 2,000 people, it’s the first time we’ve been in Boston since 2019, and we have the resources to load up the card.
“Harpoon does festivals three times a year, and normally they do music, but they want to do something different and reached out to us. They thought it would be cool to pair Clown Shoes and Beyond Wrestling. It’s unbelievable to have their support. There are no cutting corners. We’re working to make this one of the biggest independent shows ever.”
The 21-plus event will take place in a temperature-controlled tent, and it marks one of the biggest opportunities of Price’s career. The 25-year-old, who grew up only months away from the festival in nearby East Boston, will have a chance to shine against Cardona.
“Cardona’s been the king of the indies for the past three years,” said Cordeiro. “The fact that he had the date available under fairly short notice is mind-blowing.”
Since its creation in 2009, Beyond has served as a launchpad for stars. The indie promotion has also proudly set trend after trend in the industry, building itself into a powerhouse where it can headline Harpoon St. Patrick’s Festival.
“Boston has always been a white whale to us,” said Cordeiro. “Venues are hard to come by, with a lot of rules, regulations, and restrictions. But Boston is the biggest city in New England. If we want to be the biggest independent company in New England, we have to do shows in Boston.
“Headlining one of the biggest festivals in New England, it’s long overdue. It’s a big moment for everyone involved.”
