Barcelona Set For Long Stay On Top Of La Liga After Winning At Osasuna With 10 Men

Osasuna 1-2 Barcelona

Barcelona will stay top of La Liga for at least the next seven weeks after coming from behind to win at Osasuna with just 10 men.

Barca fell behind to a sixth-minute David Garcia header before Robert Lewandowski was sent off shortly after the half-hour mark.

Lewandowski was dismissed for collecting two yellow cards.

Gerard Pique, who was on the Barca bench, was also shown a red card after his excessive complaints to referee Jesus Gil Manzano.

Whatever Xavi Hernandez said to his players during the interval worked because 10-man Barca drew level three minutes into the second half.

Jordi Alba's cross for Ferran Torres was intercepted by Unai Garcia, but his clearance fell nicely for Pedri to slot home from 10 yards.

Barca's winner arrived five minutes from full-time courtesy of Raphinha.

Frenkie de Jong played a long ball forward from inside his own half and it found Raphinha, who lobbed the Osasuna keeper with a header from the edge of the penalty area.

Barca's win saw them move five points clear of Real Madrid.

Real play their game in hand at home to Cadiz on Thursday, after which there will be no La Liga fixtures until December 31.

Barca have now taken 37 points from 14 games in La Liga this season. Only twice in the club's history have they claimed more points by this stage (40 points after 14 games in both the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons).
