VIDEO: Ex-UFC Fighter Scores Buzzer-Beater Submission In First Bout Since Release
Kyle Daukaus began his post-UFC career on a high note when he submitted Robert Gidron right as the bell sounded during their bout at Cage Fury FC 120.
A former CFFC middleweight champion, Daukaus returned to the organization after he was cut from the UFC roster earlier this year. The 30-year-old’s previous four fights for CFFC had all been submission wins, but none of them were as dramatic as the one he scored at CFFC 120 against Gidron.

With just 10 seconds remaining in the fight’s opening round, Daukaus managed to take Gidron’s back and drag him to the canvas. Rather than wait out the remaining seconds of the round in a dominant position, “The D’Arce Knight” quickly locked up a tight rear-naked choke that Gidron was forced to tap to less than second before the bell sounded.
The win was a big one for Daukaus, who debuted in the UFC in 2020 but was only able to collect two wins out of seven fights with the promotion. His best victory came against Jamie Pickett in 2022, where the middleweight also miraculously beat the clock with a D’arce choke that Pickett tapped to with one second left in the first round.
Back-to-back stoppage losses at the hands of Roman Dolidze and Eryk Anders saw the 30-year-old cut from the promotion, but this win is certainly a step in the right direction if Daukaus hopes to make his way back to the UFC one day.

Kyle’s brother Chris is still fighting in the UFC and was ranked in the promotion’s heavyweight Top 15 at one point, but after three-straight knockout losses the 33-year-old will be moving down to the light heavyweight division for a fight with Khalil Rountree in August.
