Orioles vs. Red Sox Predictions, Picks, Player Props & Odds: Fri, 9/8

USATSI_20541896

On Friday night, the Orioles travel to Boston to kick off a series at Fenway. Baltimore has now won five games straight over the Diamondbacks and Angels, and they’ll be looking to keep it rolling against a Red Sox team that just lost a series to the Rays. The Red Sox just couldn’t seem to start a late-season push, and every time they start winning it’s followed up by a losing series.

You never really know what will happen at Fenway over the weekend, but with the team’s current situation, the vibe may be a bit off with such a talented young Orioles team coming into town. Our experts think we’ve found an edge in this one, though, and this is mainly due to our starting pitching matchup. Orioles vs. Red Sox Predictions for Friday, 9/8

OuOur Red Sox vs. Orioles picks for tonight’s game are mainly based on our pitching matchup and the recent form of these teams. As stated above, the Orioles have won five games straight and are 88-51. Boston currently sits at 72-68, and they’re coming off a series loss within this AL East division to the Tampa Bay Rays.

Per usual, we want to start our Orioles vs. Red Sox prediction by breaking down our starting pitching matchup. Baltimore has a clear-cut advantage here, as they’ll be starting Kyle Bradish, who holds a 10-6 on the season with a 3.03 ERA. Bradish has been consistent all year, and he’s coming off a great start where he went six full innings, only allowing two runs. This Red Sox lineup is pesky, but Bradish shouldn’t get himself into too much trouble here.

Starting on the hill for Boston is Tanner Houck, who’s been much more inconsistent than Bradish. He has a record of just 4-8, and his ERA sits at 5.07. Houck is also coming off a rough start, in which he gave up four runs over only five innings. The Orioles are one of the better hitting teams in baseball, and if Houck doesn’t have a great performance they’ll take advantage of him.

Now, let’s quickly run through our key players on both sides. For Baltimore, Anthony Santander has been hitting well all season. He has 27 home runs and 82 RBI, as a crucial part of this lineup. The Orioles also have Austin Hays getting on base with a .288 batting average and .334 OBP.

Their lineup can all hit top to bottom, which is tough against someone like Houck with a high ERA. On the other side, the Red Sox have hitting as well. Devers has 29 homers at this point, while Justin Turner has 91 RBIs to lead the team. Masataka Yoshida has been impressive as well with a .292 batting average.

Making one best bet from our Orioles vs. Red Sox predictions is difficult because the Red Sox have a lot of great hitters in their lineup. However, with the starting pitching advantage, and the better overall lineup, we have to go with the Orioles ML (-130 at Caesars) in this one. Fenway isn’t always the easiest place to beat the Sox, but their morale is low, and the Orioles are rolling.

Orioles vs. Red Sox Player Props and Picks Featuring Anthony Santander and Rafael Devers

As previously stated, our main Orioles vs. Red Sox pick in this contest is the Orioles ML (-130 at Caesars). However, we want to try our luck on some player props in this one.

First off, we like Anthony Santander to get Over 1.5 bases here. He’s been a force all year, has plenty of power, and faces an average pitcher in Houck. Santander Over 1.5 bases (-108 at Caesars) is another way to use our Orioles vs. Red Sox picks. On top of that, we want to take a shot on Devers to hit a home run off the right-handed Bradish.

Rafael Devers is always swinging for the fences at Fenway, especially against right-handers, and the odds are better than usual tonight at (+380). He’s due to hit one, so it's worth sprinkling on Rafael Devers to hit a HR (+380 at Caesars).
