The loss of Dalvin Cook may end up proving to be a big one for Minnesota. On the other side, the Eagles didn’t appear to have their A-game against New England, and they were still victorious in their 25-20 effort on the road. Jalen Hurts only threw for 170 yards and was 22-33 through the air.

Thursday Night Football Picks Against The Spread for Minnesota Vikings vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Primetime games tend to be close and lower scoring at times, but we don’t believe that this will be the case on Thursday night. Despite only scoring 17 points in their home opener, the Vikings were able to get the passing game going in their loss. Justin Jefferson is showing no signs of slowing down this season, as he had nine receptions for a game-high 150 yards. 

He sadly couldn’t find the end zone though, which looks like it may be an issue for the Vikings. As we stated earlier, Jalen Hurts is coming off a weak performance by his standards. 79 of his 170 passing yards came from Hurts’ favorite target, A.J. Brown.

We predict another huge year out of Brown, who’s clearly cemented himself as the Eagles WR1. Also, DeVonta Smith had a solid performance with 47 yards and a touchdown. Minnesota had a hard time stopping a Buccaneers offense in their first game with Baker Mayfield, which tells us they’ll likely struggle against this explosive Eagles offense.

With the Eagles experienced offensive line and deep pool of skill players available, we predict that the Eagles will put on an offensive show in primetime in front of their home crowd, and the Vikings won’t be able to keep up. This feels like a potential 34-17 type of game where the Eagles dominate and cover the -7 spread.

Injury Report Ahead of Vikings vs. Eagles via FanDuel Sportsbook for Thursday, September 14th

Below, we will look at the injury reports for this week heading into our Thursday Night Football picks against the spread. There isn’t a ton to talk about, but both teams have a few injuries worth noting. For Minnesota, Center Garret Bradbury left in Week 1 with a back injury, missing multiple practices this week. 

Tackle Cristian Darrisaw briefly left the game and returned, so he’s been limited in practices. Lastly for the Vikings, Marcus Davenport’s Vikings debut at linebacker was pushed back after he injured his ankle before week one.

Philadelphia placed linebacker Nokobe Dean on IR, and listed Fletcher Cox as not participating in practice. Also, Safety Reed Blankenship missed practices for a rib injury, along with James Bradberry who suffered a concussion. Kenneth Gainwell was also a bit banged up with a rib injury, but he’s expected to play Thursday.
