As expected, defending back-to-back national champion Georgia is the No. 1 team in the nation after the AP top 25 preseason college football rankings were announced on Monday, and though it wasn't a unanimous decision, it was close: 60 of the 63 first-place votes on the ballot went to the Bulldogs, who received 1,572 total points.

Big Ten contenders Michigan and Ohio State placed No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, followed by No. 4 ranked Alabama. SEC teams led the way with six teams selected in the poll, with the Big Ten and Pac-12 each getting five teams included in the rankings.
