Ranking the 10 fastest wide receivers at the 2024 NFL Combine

This looks like a loaded WR class in the 2024 NFL Draft and the top prospects made themselves known when performing at the Combine

The 2024 NFL Combine is in the books and with it came the opportunity to see some of the top talent college football has to offer looking to impress NFL teams ahead of the draft. And while some prominent quarterbacks and wide receivers elected to not go through the workouts, we saw a terrific WR class take the field in the drills.

That included one record-breaker who set the new bar for speed at the wide receiver position, one that can give Texas football fans a point of pride going forward. Here's your look at the fastest wide receivers at the 2024 NFL Combine, ranked by official 40-yard dash times, according to the NFL's numbers.

10. Cornelius Johnson

Time: 4.44 seconds

School: Michigan

Johnson played in 61 games for Michigan and started 44, finishing with over 2,000 career yards and 14 touchdown catches while averaging 2.3 receptions per game.

9. Two players tied

Time: 4.43 seconds

  • Lideatrick Griffin, Mississippi State
  • Bub Means, Pittsburgh

8. Jha'Quan Jackson

Time: 4.42 seconds

School: Tulane

Despite averaging just 1.9 receptions per game in his career, Jackson scored 17 times and averaged 16 yards per catch with the Green Wave.

Time: 4.41 seconds

6. Four players tied

Time: 4.39 seconds

5. Jacob Cowing

Time: 4.38 seconds

A former transfer star, Cowing impressed over two seasons at Arizona, scoring 7 times off more than 1,000 yards in 2022 and scoring 13 times this past season, posting more than 75 yards per game.

4. Devontez Walker

Time: 4.36 seconds

School: North Carolina

Despite an eligibility controversy to start out at UNC, Walker finally got on the field and quickly emerged as Drake Maye's top target, catching 41 passes for 699 yards and seven touchdowns this past season.

3. Adonai Mitchell

Time: 4.34 seconds

School: Texas

After transferring from Georgia, Mitchell became an important piece of the Longhorns' offense, catching 55 passes for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns en route to the school's first playoff appearance.

2. Brian Thomas, Jr.

Time: 4.33 seconds

School: LSU

The solid No. 2 target for LSU behind Malik Nabers, Thomas had almost 1,200 yards receiving and 17 touchdowns and his Combine effort will help push him up some draft boards.

1. Xavier Worthy

Time: 4.21 seconds

School: Texas

The brand new record-holder in NFL Combine history, Worthy's 40-yard dash time is the fastest-ever, adding to an already-elite resume for NFL teams to consider. He scored five times and went over 1,000 yards for the Longhorns last season and should clinch a first-round grade with his 40 time.
