West Virginia Looks to Make a Big Splash in the Portal

The transfer portal re-opened on Monday and over the next two weeks, there will be a lot of movement around college football, including here at West Virginia.

Head coach Neal Brown is pretty confident that the majority of the team’s top contributors and top young talent will remain with the program, but there’s always a few that end up trickling away.

But as they say, the portal giveth and the portal taketh away. Well, West Virginia could make a gigantic splash if they are able to land former Penn State wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith who just entered the portal Monday afternoon.

According to Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, Lambert-Smith has been in contact with West Virginia, along with Auburn, Colorado, Georgia, and Texas A&M.

In 2023, Lambert-Smith led the Nittany Lions in receptions (53) and receiving yards (673) while finishing second in touchdowns with four. In the season opener against the Mountaineers, he recorded four receptions for 123 yards and two scores. Although Neal Brown loves the addition of Jaden Bray and the potential of Traylon Ray, Rodney Gallagher III, and Hudson Clement, the receiver room could stand to have a little more experience.

Lambert-Smith will have one season of eligibility remaining.
